Happy New Year! It’s the end of “bubble week” – that time between Christmas and New Year when I’m off work and get to sew or do whatever I want! There is definitely a finishing energy of completing projects and gearing up for new ones.

I haven’t been posting since the spring of 2020, basically since the pandemic started. There was just too much change with the lockdown, moving, worrying about my family, not being able to see one of my sons for a year, then my other son leaving again for his last year of college. Needless to say I was overwhelmed with my life. Despite all these challenges, I am grateful for being able to spend the extra time with my family, and to welcome a new baby nephew last summer.
Sadly, I hit a quilting slump at the beginning of 2021, but thanks to the online quilting community got to participate in a few of QALs and got my sewjo back! Fortunately, the spring brought hope and light and a renewed sense of things “getting back to normal” – if there ever will be such a thing! Armed with a brand new vaccination, I traveled to CA to spend Mother’s Day with my sons, then to FL to bring my Mom back north. Then back to CA for my son’s college graduation – so very thankful to have been able to be there!

Looking back, it’s been a busy and creative time nevertheless. I’ve made 23 quilts in 2020, and 16 in 2021. They are mostly tops, as only only 14 of them have been quilted, and the rest are awaiting to be finished. I also made a charity quilt for a local quilt guild and quilted another one for them.

For 2022 – I’m hoping to post more regularly and finish the tops into quilts, most of them will be gifted. Best wishes to all for a better year filled with good health, good cheer, time with family and abundant creativity!
