June & July Happenings

I can’t believe how fast June flew by and now July is almost over! I’ve been busy creating new quilts and have lots of ideas. Our quilt club had meetings in June and July and everyone is excited to be making their blocks for the Busy Day quilt. Mine has been quilted and bound, and I’m very pleased with it.

In June I quilting my Brick Houses quilt and it will be a wall hanging for my bedroom. In July, I finished and quilted my Scrappy Webs quilt. It will be a gift for my Mom. Since this is a super scrappy quilt with lots of seams, I chose one piece fabric from my stash for the backing. I added a lovely border, which frames the blocks very nicely. I also decided to make it a bit smaller than originally planned, so I have 16 homeless blocks now. Not sure what will become of them, but they went to live in my random blocks box for now.

I made two baby quilts in July as well – one for my nephew and another for my cousins’ baby who is arriving in October. I cannot share the pics as they are both a surprise, but will post them once they are gifted.

Last weekend I took a class at Capital Quilts taught by my friend Elizabeth, called Wonky Log Cabin. It was really great to be able to attend a gathering just like we used to 3 years ago! Maybe we are getting back to normal after all!! I’ve made all the blocks now and it’s the next project on my design wall to be assembled. Definitely outside my comfort zone and not my go-to type of quilt, but it’s something new and exciting.

Summer is more than half-way over and I’m looking forward to fall with better weather and some travel.

Happy quilting!
