February ’25 Club meeting

Happy early Spring! Glorious sunny warmer weather has finally arrived. We had a wonderful meeting in early February. Susan re-joined our club and it was a treat to see Jan! Joan and Verna made Identity blocks and they each had a lovely story to accompany their fabric choices. Victoria’s book is rich in stories and we enjoyed shared some of ours.

It took a long time for me to decide on what fabrics to use, so I only brought my fabric pull. After our meeting I made 4 blocks and selected a starting layout for the Experience quilt. As for my story… I tend to choose fabric combinations that are visually pleasing to me. When I first started quilting back in the late 90’s, that’s how I choose what to buy – by color and pattern, and how much I liked them together. Perhaps that is my quilting story – making quilts with fabrics that bring me joy!

My fabric pull – are the colors I love and my preferred palette – blues, greens, light purples and pinks. It makes me so happy to see them combined in a block!

Kathleen brought the tree skirt she’s been working on to get some advice on binding. We decided that biased binging would be best. It is so lovely! I hope she will bring the finished skirt to the next meeting to take a photo. The skirt is a free pattern from APQ.

We also talked about the upcoming quilt shows and are considering visiting the Baltimore Heritage Quilt Guild Expo 2025 at the end of April. I’ve never been, and it should be a fun outing! The first day of the fair coincides with our April Club meeting, and if enough people are interested in going to the fair instead, we may take it on the road and make it a filed trip!

I am traveling in the middle of March and our next meeting will be on the last Saturday, March 29, at 12:30. I hope to see all the wonderful blocks in the making!

Happy quilting everyone!
