May 2023

Our first meeting on May 20th was awesome! Thanks to everyone who attended and shared their projects with the group.

We discussed several scrap quilt projects and the majority will be making Potato chip blocks from 2″ strips. The quilt has been renamed to Busy Day!

This is my Scrappy Chips quilt which I showed at the meeting and the project that we will be making this year. Blocks and borders are made with 2″ strips, total 20 blocks for a lap sized version that finishes at 60″ x 72″.

This block & quilt can be made with 2.5″ strips.

Project notes are here:

I also showed another scrappy project that’s been in the works. It’s a variation of a Wacky Web quilt from MSQCo. I’m using 2″ and 2.5″ strips for the web and triangle foundation paper. These are just some of the blocks I made in no particular order!

Below is the link to the pattern if anyone else is interested:

I also shared my scrappy Houses project from last year. It’s in my WIP section until I finish the border and quilt it.

Next month, I will be doing a demo on how to spin seams – to reduce bulk in your seams. I hope everybody enjoyed the meeting and am looking forward to seeing everyone in June.

Out next meeting is on Saturday, June 17th, 12-2pm. Happy quilting!
