My first project for 2024 – an inspiration from Fat Quarter shop!
Early in January, I happened upon a YouTube video tutorial from Kimberly and just had to make it! It’s a free Spruce Star pattern from FQShop which I modified to make larger. I also decided to use Triangles on a roll HST paper as suggested in the video. I immediately ordered 1.5″, 3″ and 4.5″ finished triangles on a roll and I have to say that I LOVE using them! It’s fast and accurate and no need to trim individual units.
My blocks finish at 18″ instead of 16″ in the pattern. I made the following substitutions for the triangle paper – using Triangle on a roll 4.5″ paper (H400) instead of 3.75″ paper; 3″ (H300) instead of 2.5″; and 1.5″ (H150) instead of 1.25″ paper.

My fabric pull for this project. All of these beauties came from my stash!
So far I made 4 blocks and one more in progress. I’m making one block every other day or so. There are 12 in total.
